Types of Imposter Syndrome


Imposter Syndrome

· Feel like a fraud.

· Doubt accomplishments.

· Feel like you are in the wrong place based on how others judge you.


Types of Imposter Syndrome:

Perfectionist

Superwoman

Natural Genius

Soloist

Expert



Perfectionist

· Insanely high goals or expectations of self. When they fail to meet that goal or expectation, they experience self-doubt and worry about not being able to measure up to their expectations.

· Can do everything the best. Work and work to make it perfect.

· Have difficulty delegating and often micromanage.

· Try to avoid Imposter Syndrome by acting in perfection ways, but at the same time Imposter Syndrome is still there if they do not meet their expectation.



Superwoman

· Comes in early and stays late to get everything done.

· Often an overachiever. Has high expectations of themselves and of others.

· Feels stressed when don’t get enough downtime, but downtime feels like a waste of time.

· Work harder and longer to feel worthy of accomplishment.

· Think people are paying more attention the harder they work. They work harder to get the appreciation they feel they deserve. When they don’t get the appreciation they deserve, or no appreciation at all, this causes backfire depending on how much expectation they set on people.



Natural Genius

· Excel without much effort.

· Straight A’s

· Need to feel naturally good at something. Anything that requires effort to master is not worth their time and frustrates them.

· Avoid challenges because it is uncomfortable. They have to be the best or they do not feel worthy.



Soloist

· Good on their own. Don’t want or need others to help them.

· If they cannot do it themselves, they do not feel like they deserve the accomplishment.



Expert

· Feel they need to be able to check every box.

· Constantly looking for certifications, degrees, or other things to be able to add to list of accomplishments and skills.

· Fill spare time with learning and obtaining new skills to avoid not knowing everything and feeling the Imposter Syndrome.
